The castle of Koroni

Venetian castle and renowned castle-state at the southwestern tip of the Peloponnese that existed from the 7th AD. century and was rebuilt and extended by the Venetians in the 13th century. In the following centuries the city flourished, but it was constantly the bone of contention between the Venetians and the Turks.

in antiquity, in the place of today's Koroni, there was the city of Asini, which had a strong citadel. Assini is one of the 7 cities that Agamemnon offered to Achilles to appease his anger, according to Homer.
